Blogger Templates: Little United Nations

Little United Nations Blogger Template

We are from all over the world, Africa, America, Asia, Europe and Australia. We have different skin colors, black, white and yellow. I am Lucy, You are Lily, and he is Jim, but we are all the children of the Earth Mum. We are the little United Nations. Hand in hand, we are singing, we are dancing, for what? For our common dreams, to make this world a better place.

  1. very fun! thanks for converting the theme to blogger!

    only is it just me or is there a glitch? trying to use this theme but am finding that the gadgets end up in not being on the sidebar when viewing the blog. they are at the end of all the posts in the middle. . .

    i admit, it could totally be me because i am BRANDnew to blogger (which is why it makes for the perfect theme for me. . .) maybe you could help me get the layout straight?

  4. I am ahaving a hell of a time trying to change the tabs. Any advice greatly appreciated. managed to change one of the tabs, but can't input URL needed. Please help, I love this design and would hate to change it over a tech issue.

  5. @ Mom 'n' More, well I'll also make sure that you don't have to change this template for any reason.

    Currently, you've 2 tabs on your blog; one is "Home" which is linked to your homepage and the other is "Toys" which is currently not linked to any URL. The code for these tabs can be found by going to "Edit HTML" tab and searching for it:

    <div id='menu'>
    <ul>
    <li><a expr:href='data:blog.homepageUrl'>Home</a></li>
    <li><a href=''>Toys</a></li>
    </ul>
    </div>

    So, now we need to create a post for the "Toys" tab so that when someone will click on "Toys" tab, he/she will be taken to that post. So, create a new post with title "Toys" and write something about toys in it. Here comes the tricky part, before publishing the post, we need to make sure that the post should be visible to the user only when he/she would click the "Toys" tab.

    To hide the post, just change the date of the post to some very old date like 1999. You'll see a link "Post Options" on the bottom of the post editor, click that link and change the date to some very old date and then publish that post. After publishing the post, we need to get it's address. You'd have already noticed that after a post is published, Blogger gives us an option to see the post by clicking on the "View Post" link. So, "View Post" link is actually the address (URL) of that published post. Copy the URL of the post and go to "Layout" then "Edit HTML" tab and find the menu code which is:

    <div id='menu'>
    <ul>
    <li><a expr:href='data:blog.homepageUrl'>Home</a></li>
    <li><a href=''>Toys</a></li>
    </ul>
    </div>

    Now paste the URL of the post in href='' of menu and now your code would look like this:

    <div id='menu'>
    <ul>
    <li><a expr:href='data:blog.homepageUrl'>Home</a></li>
    <li><a href='URL OF THE POST HERE'>Toys</a></li>
    </ul>
    </div>

    So, now "Toys" tab is linked to that post. Similarly, you can create a couple more tabs by making few changes in the above code:

    <div id='menu'>
    <ul>
    <li><a expr:href='data:blog.homepageUrl'>Home</a></li>
    <li><a href='URL OF THE POST HERE'>Toys</a></li>
    <li><a href='URL OF THE POST HERE'>New Tab1</a></li>
    <li><a href='URL OF THE POST HERE'>New Tab2</a></li>
    </ul>
    </div>

    Feel free to ask for help if you've any more problems, thanks.

  12. Hi Bilal,

    Thank you for such a great theme.

    This is my first blog ever. I have been playing around with it and I am very pleased with the result.
    I could resolve most issues and things I did not know how to do by finding the answers and instructions on the internet.
    At this moment I have only one problem I am not able to fix. It has to do with the Subscribe To Post and Subsribe To Comments gadget. When I click on either two the only RSS Reader icon that I can see and click on is Google Reader and a little bit of Bloglines. The rest, however, seems to get lost behind a frame or something. Do you have an idea how to solve this problem?

    Thanks in advance for your help. And once again, thanks for such a beautiful theme.

  14. Hi sybil,

    Go to "Layout" then "Edit HTML" and find this code:

    .sidebar .widget {
    width: 212px;
    overflow: hidden;
    padding: 10px 0 5px 20px;
    overflow: hidden;
    }

    Once found, simply replace the above code with the following code:

    .sidebar .widget {
    width: 212px;
    overflow: auto;
    padding: 10px 0 5px 20px;
    }

    Cheers!

  16. Oops!...It is me again.
    Later I noticed a change that might be connected to the new implemented code.

    The details at the end ...

    - Copyright 2009 ... All rights reserved.WP Themes designed by EZwpthemes. Powered by Blogger Converted to Blogger by Blogger FAQs -

    are no longer on the tape but have moved to the left bottom corner.

    - Is there a way to get the text back on the tape?
    - Is is possible to have the Copyright Year automaically change when a new calendar year has arrived?

    Thanks in advance for your help

  17. @ Sybil, actually when you applied my last instruction, you forgot to close the bracket (I've just checked your blog).

    Find this code in your HTML.

    .sidebar .widget {
    width: 212px;
    overflow: auto;
    padding: 10px 0 5px 20px;

    As you can see that the starting bracket is there but no ending bracket so just add it and code should look like this:

    .sidebar .widget {
    width: 212px;
    overflow: auto;
    padding: 10px 0 5px 20px;
    }

    Hehe cheers. Anyways, the Copyright Year can't be automatically changed, you've to do that manually :-)
